Gratitude in Every Song: Nurturing Hearts Through Prayer and Praise
At CLEP, we believe that caring for a child goes beyond providing education, school materials, and financial support. True transformation happens when we nurture not only the mind but also the heart and spirit. That is why spiritual care is an important part of our program, creating moments where children can pause, reflect, and express gratitude to God for the blessings in their lives.

During our regular gatherings, students come together for prayer and praise time, a special moment filled with joy, music, and heartfelt expressions of faith. These sessions are more than just routine activities, they are opportunities to build gratitude, encourage accountability, and remind every child that they are not alone. We want them to know that God sees them, cares for them, and has a purpose for their lives.
For many of our students, life has not been easy. Some have experienced loss, poverty, and uncertainty at a very young age. Yet, when the time for praise begins, their voices rise with confidence and joy. Hands clap, feet move gently to rhythm, and smiles spread across their faces as they sing songs of thanksgiving.
One of the songs that deeply touched our hearts during a recent praise session was sung in Yoruba. The words carry a powerful message of gratitude:
“Thank you, God. There is nothing compared to how much good You have done for me. A thousand tongues cannot praise You enough.”
As the children sang these words, their voices echoed with sincerity. It was a beautiful moment, one filled with humility, faith, and hope. Many of these children have very little in material possessions, yet their gratitude is rich and genuine. Their song reminds us that gratitude is not based on how much we have, but on recognizing the goodness of God even in difficult circumstances.
These spiritual care sessions also help instill a strong sense of accountability. The children are reminded that their lives matter, that their actions matter, and that they are responsible for making good choices. Through prayer, they learn to trust God with their fears and challenges. Through praise, they learn to celebrate victories, big and small.
We have seen how these moments of worship strengthen the children emotionally and spiritually. They grow in confidence, learn respect for others, and develop a deeper sense of hope. For some, this is the only time they experience structured spiritual encouragement and a supportive community where their voices are heard and valued.
Parents and guardians have also expressed appreciation for this aspect of CLEP’s work. They recognize that raising children with strong values and faith helps them remain focused, disciplined, and hopeful despite their circumstances.
At CLEP, prayer and praise are not just activities, they are lifelines of encouragement. They remind each child that they are loved, protected, and capable of rising above their challenges. More importantly, they learn to give thanks, even while trusting God for greater things ahead.
When we hear their voices lifted in worship, we are reminded that transformation is happening not just in classrooms, but in hearts.
