When we first met Ahmad in early 2023, he was a bright-eyed 9-year-old with a curiosity that couldn’t be dimmed, despite his circumstances. Living in a rural community outside Lagos, Ahmad’s family struggled to afford both food and school fees. Like many children in his situation, he spent his days helping his mother sell vegetables in the local market.<\/p>\n
Everything changed when Ahmad became CLEP’s first scholar. With his school fees covered, daily meals provided, and a dedicated mentor assigned, Ahmad’s transformation was remarkable. Within six months, he went from unable to read to finishing top of his class in Primary 2.<\/p>\n
“I love mathematics,” Ahmad beams when we visit him at school. “My teacher says I might be an engineer someday.” His mother, initially skeptical about the program, has become one of our strongest community advocates.<\/p>\n
Today, Ahmad wakes up at 6 AM excited for school. He helps his younger siblings with their homework and dreams of building schools in rural communities when he grows up. His story reminds us why we do this work\u2014every child carries unlimited potential, waiting for the right opportunity to shine.<\/p>\n
